Matthew P. Quiring

Matthew P. Quiring is a graduate of UC Berkeley and Martin Luther King, Jr. School of Law at UC Davis, and has been assisting, advising, and representing landlords in Alameda and the East Bay since 2009. After joining Fried & Williams in 2014, Matthew assisted clients with evictions, rent increases, wrongful eviction defense, settlements, writs and appeals, and general litigation. Matthew currently specializes in landlord outreach and education, lease drafting, and real estate transactions.

In addition to his private practice, for the past 7 years, Matthew has partnered with the Volunteer Legal Services Corporation and the Alameda County Bar Association to provide pro bono legal services to low income landlords, including assisting with paperwork, preparing for trial, advice on settlement and negotiation, and training other attorneys to do the same. Matthew has personally donated over 100 hours of pro bono services annually, and received numerous awards and recognitions for his contributions, including being named the 2010 VLSC Volunteer of the Year.

Matthew currently serves on the ACBA Real Estate Executive Committee, which is responsible for providing continuing education for real estate attorneys throughout the county, as well as writing articles for local real estate trade publications, hosting workshops and Q&A sessions for local landlords, and training classes for young and newly-admitted attorneys on how to represent landlords in the Alameda Superior Court.
