Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a lawyer?

The answer is most likely “yes.” Bay Area landlord-tenant laws are extremely complex. If you forget to cross one “t” or dot one “i” it could lead to serious repercussions. For those reasons we recommend that anyone taking any level of legal action against a tenant hire an attorney before doing so.

What are your rates?

Our rates vary by attorney. Please contact our client coordinator with questions about rates and scheduling an appointment: jbellison@friedwilliams.com

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an appointment by filling out our online contact form. Our client coordinator usually responds within 1-2 business days. You can also call or email Jane directly at 510-625-0100, ext. 2 or jbellison@friedwilliams.com

Do you offer free consultations?

No. Fried, Williams & Grice Conner attorneys bill hourly for all of their time, including the initial consultation.

I just have one quick question. Do I still need to schedule an appointment?

Yes, for non-clients and potential clients to speak with an attorney they must schedule an appointment beforehand. You might find information on your matter from our articles web page, which offers information on many of real estate and landlord-tenant law topics.

What is wrongful eviction insurance and why do I need it?

Defending and settling wrongful eviction lawsuits is very expensive. Fried, Williams & Grice Conner highly recommends that you obtain proper coverage if you are in the residential rental business. If you need assistance in procuring the proper coverage, our firm would be happy to assist you. For more information, please download our Wrongful Eviction Insurance brochure by clicking here.
